Dominic Charnock to become BattMan Energy’s new CFO

BattMan Energy, the leading Danish developer and operator of BESS, has recruited a highly experienced finance professional as it continues its development from start-up to a scale-up company.

BattMan Energy is pleased to announce that Dominic Charnock will become Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at BattMan Energy and member of Executive Management team. He will take up the position as CFO on September 1st.

Dominic brings over 25 years of extensive international finance experience to the company having served in senior roles within Maersk Drilling, as CFO of Seaborg (now Saltfoss Energy), and Head of Corporate Finance at Better Energy. These roles followed over a decade as an international investment banker based in London.

Dominic has been a non-executive member of the Board of Directors of BattMan Energy since last summer and will step down from that role in this transition.

BattMan Energy’s incoming CFO, Dominic Charnock says “I have been very impressed by the talent and ambitions of the company during my time on the board. When the opportunity arose and I was asked to join the company as CFO it was an easy decision to make. The accelerating interest in BESS, especially in Denmark, from financial institutions across the world points to an exciting time for the company and I look forward to helping to drive the financial understanding of BESS as more market participants become involved.”

BattMan Energy announced in June that it is preparing for a capital raise of around EUR 100m with the aim of funding the near-term construction of a portfolio of battery energy storage system projects in Denmark. The raise will also enable the company to take the next step in their impressive growth journey and build further traction across its various BESS activities and countries in which it has preliminary operations.

CEO and co-founder of BattMan Energy, Daniel Kappelgaard says “I am very pleased to be able to attract an experienced person such as Dominic to BattMan and it demonstrates the growth ambitions we have. His finance experience with growth companies and international funding will help us deliver on the next phase in the company. Our strong project pipeline requires over EUR 400 million of capital in the coming period and Dominic’s experience will help us deliver this.”

The company was founded in 2022 and covers the entire BESS developer value chain from screening to O&M from its headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark with c. 30 employees. BattMan Energy is a market leader in Denmark and has already commissioned systems with a total storage capacity of more than 40 MWh and with another +100 MWh currently under construction. The company has a large, advanced portfolio with a total capacity of ~1GWh

due to reach RtB within the next 18 months in Denmark, and they also have a well-progressed pipeline located in the Baltics through a JV with a local Baltic developer.

Dominic is 48 years old, holds a MEng from University of Leeds in the UK, and lives in Sweden with his wife and two kids. Dominic succeeds Bo Munkholm who left BattMan Energy in June 2025 to pursue new challenges.
